PHAB HUB - The Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment Officially Commences

With the generous support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Hong Kong PHAB Association is honored to be one of the collaborative partners in the second phase of The Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment, which adopts a stakeholder-based and collaborative approach to attaining inclusive employment for people with disabilities. On April 16th, the Association held the opening ceremony of The Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment - PHAB HUB. The ceremony was officiated by Mr Horace Lit, the Executive Manager,Charities (Healthy Community) of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Ms CHOW Mei Yee, Assistant District Social Welfare Officer of the Social Welfare Department in Sham Shui Po, and Professor Frederick Ho, SBS, Chairman of the Association, with nearly 50 partners from various sectors as witnesses. The PHAB HUB, a space for inclusive sharing and collaboration, was officially launched to encourage the development and showcase of abilities of young persons with disabilities through school support, career planning, job skills training, and enterprise internship programs, creating diverse employment opportunities.

Mr Horace Lit, the Executive Manager,Charities (Healthy Community) of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, mentioned in his speech during the opening ceremony that the project aims not only to discover the potential of young persons with disabilities but also to collaborate with the social welfare parties, corporates, and government to promote inclusive employment through job matching and to provide support for young persons with disabilities to advance in their careers.

Professor Frederick Ho, the Chairman of the Association, expressed gratitude for the support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, which led to the creation of PHAB HUB as a friendly and diverse platform for PWD youths. He hoped that the services will help every participant discover their potential, build confidence in a friendly environment, expand their social networks, connect with more social, commercial, and educational collaborations, and allow more people to see the talents of persons with disabilities, collectively creating a diverse, equal, and inclusive workplace environment.

In addition to the opening ceremony, the event also included sharing sessions by business partners, school representatives, and persons with disabilities on how to promote inclusive employment and how to unleash the diverse potential of persons with disabilities, as well as breaking out of conventional employment frameworks. After the ceremony, guests participated in guided tours of PHAB HUB, engaging in activities such as 3D printing experiences and art exhibitions hosted by youth with disabilities, exchanging ideas, encouraging future collaborations and innovations, and promoting inclusive employment.

About The Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment - PHAB HUB
With the support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Hong Kong PHAB Association's Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment provides employment preparation for persons with disabilities and special learning needs, including work ability assessments, training, job internships, and job opportunities. The project also offers workplace inclusion support for enterprises and institutions, encouraging employers to hire persons with disabilities to promote a diverse, fair, and inclusive workplace environment. Through the establishment of PHAB HUB, a space for inclusive sharing and collaboration, the project encourages persons with disabilities to unleash their potential, expand their social networks, and explore various fields.
